Dry Brushing- A Ritual For Self

Dry Brushing- A Ritual For Self

The practice of dry brushing is a simple yet very effective self care ritual one can add into their daily routine. The benefits of dry brushing your skin are invaluable. Your skin, the largest organ in the human body, is an organ of elimination. One third of your body’s toxins are excreted through the skin and dry brushing helps to unclog pores and excrete toxins that become trapped in the skin. Dry brushing stimulates your lymphatic system, which helps remove toxins from the body. We remove dead skin by dry brushing which creates smoother and softer skin. Dry brushing all helps to reduce cellulite by breaking down the toxic materials that are stored in fat cells. These toxins are released then our bodies eliminate them through our usual elimination channels. Dry brushing also unclogs pores and decongest the skin helping our skin absorb more nutrients.

To do it yourself, start with a good quality dry brush like the ones we have here at DANO. Start at your feet and brush upward toward the heart. Similarly, when you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work upward toward the heart. Use firm, small strokes upward, or work in a circular motion. For the stomach area, work in a clockwise direction. Be sure not to press too hard or use a brush that’s too stiff. The skin should never be scratched or damaged when dry brushing, therefore make sure your brushes bristles are comfortable and gentle on the skin.

The best time to dry brush is in the morning before a shower. Dedicate at least three to five minutes to brushing just before you shower to get the full energizing benefits.
